Soul Splatter – The Journey So Far
When I started Soul Splatter, I dreamed of creating a space where people could slow down, connect with themselves, and explore creativity in a safe, playful way. It’s still the early days, but Soul Splatter has grown through a handful of beautiful sessions already. Here’s a look at what’s unfolded so far:
✨ The First Free Trial Session
Our very first Soul Splatter session was a free trial with a small group of five adults and two children. It was a chance to test the flow of a session and see how people responded to the process. What stood out was how quickly everyone relaxed into the creative space, and how naturally the artmaking opened up conversations, laughter, and reflection.
✨ Teen Art Club – Pieces of Me & Mixed Media
Next came the Teen Art Club sessions. The first workshop, Pieces of Me, introduced the group to collage – using cut-outs, textures, and layers to express different parts of themselves. It was a fantastic way to explore identity creatively and gently. In the second workshop, we moved into mixed media, combining materials and techniques for more freedom and experimentation. Watching the teens grow in confidence and support one another was inspiring.
✨ Dementia Group Session
Soul Splatter also ventured into an aged care home to run a creative session with residents living with dementia. Using simple, sensory-based art materials, residents expressed themselves through colour and texture without needing words. The calm, focus, and joy that emerged in the room was a powerful reminder of how creativity can connect us beyond language.
✨ 1:1 Women’s Empowerment Session
Another highlight was Soul Splatter’s first 1:1 Women’s Empowerment session. In this intimate setting, the focus was on expression, reflection, and release. Through guided artmaking, the participant uncovered new insights and experienced a renewed sense of strength. It was a beautiful reminder of the transformative power of creativity on a personal level.
✨ Women’s Circle Group
Most recently, Soul Splatter hosted its first Women’s Circle, bringing together five women for a shared creative wellbeing experience. Similar in spirit to the 1:1 session, this circle offered space to explore inner strength, boundaries, and self-expression through artmaking. Guided by the theme “Strength in My Story,” each woman created a piece that reflected resilience, identity, and personal growth. The energy in the room was supportive and heartfelt — proof that when women come together in creativity, connection and empowerment naturally follow.
Looking back, I feel so grateful for these early steps. From the very first free trial, to teens finding their creative voices, to residents reconnecting through art, and women rediscovering empowerment – Soul Splatter is already touching lives in ways that matter.
And this is only the beginning. I can’t wait to see how Soul Splatter continues to grow and where this journey takes us next.
